                                                                           Tenets of Tang Soo Do

Integrity : Being honest and trustworthy. Knowing right from wrong and doing what is right.

Concentration : To focus all of your efforts on doing one thing well.

Perseverance : To never quit despite difficulties. Work hard to reach your goals.

Respect  and Obedience: To care about yourself and others.
 Willing to follow rules and commands given by authority figures (teachers, parents, instructors).

Self-control : Patience; The ability to control one's words and actions.

Humility : To be modest and not brag about your success. Having self-confidence, self-esteem and knowing that you do not have to prove anything to anyone else. To realize you do not know everything and that you can learn from everyone.

Indomitable Spirit : Courage; Strive to overcome your fears and have determination to reach your goals.

 

Eight Key Concepts

The first five concepts are spiritual aspects of training

Yong Gi   -       Courage

Chung Shin Tong II - Concentration

In Neh   -       Endurance

Chung Jik    -      Honesty

Kyum Son   -       Humility

 

The next three concepts are physical and internal aspects of training

Him Cho Chung -   Control of power

Shin Chook  -     Tension and relaxation

Wan Gup   -      Speed control
